yHomework is an education app which can help you solve your math homework within no time. Do you find your regular math problems extremely difficult? Are you a parent who is having problems in helping your child teach the logic behind the solution of basic math and algebra problems? Do you have a math test coming up and want to brush up on your problem solution skills? yHomework would be a great fit if you fit any of these descriptions!
The math solver app gets you started by asking you the grade that you study in and the days when you study math. It's not sure as to what happens if you study math only on Monday or throughout the week. How it uses the grade question is also very confusing as there is no apparent difference in the kind of questions it offers as examples etc. It would be great if the app would have different types of questions, example problems and worksheets for students in different grades though. There is also no way of increasing your grade or increasing the number of days you study math which is also frustrating.
However, these are probably my only problems with the app. The app's capability of solving problems and actually explaining each step is amazing to say the least. Whether you want to solve long algebraic equations or find a solution to a trignometric problem, the app works pretty fast and not only comes up with the answer but also displays each step with its explanation. As a student, it can provide you peace of mind of solving your homework but can also help you in understanding the solution of each problem.
The app's home page has a neat interface with the graphical calculator at the bottom with the main screen at the top. Depending on the mode you have selected, you can type in your problem and then let the math solver app provide you with the detailed and step-by-step solution.
There are basically two major levels within the math solver app i.e. Basic Math and Algebra. In Basic math, you can type problems related to factorization, square root, percent conversion etc. In algebra, you get the option of solving equations for 'x' and 'y' with the graphical calculator buttons changing to accommodate for easy typing of equations. You can solve inequalities, trigonometric problems and use log and exponential terms as well in this function. The level can be changed by tapping on the menu button at the top left of the screen and then tapping on 'Level'. Afterwards, select the level you want i.e. Basic math or algebra.
With each level, you can also choose the mode of calculation. In Basic Math, the modes are 'general problems', prime factorization, GCD/LCM, percentage conversion and derivatives. In Algebra, the modes are general equations, prime factorization, GCD/LCM, percentage conversion, derivatives, line, and circle. The mode can be selected by tapping on 'three green dots' symbol appearing on the top right of the screen.
Other features of the app include Examples and worksheets. In examples, the app shows you how to input a problem of a specific type and then shows the solution for the problem as well. This is basically a kind of tutorial so that you can learn how to type in your own problem for solution. In Worksheets, there are solved examples of equations, factorization and GCD/LCM and you can learn a lot from the solution of these worksheets as well.
The app has a credits system and you need one credit to solve one problem. You are assigned ten credits to begin with. You can either purchase credits or turn on ads to get credits for free.
